Just over two years ago, it was revealed that Ronan Keating had had an affair with one of Boyzone's backing dancers.
The illicit affair lasted over seven months and was uncovered after Ronan's then-wife Yvonne discovered texts between the singer and 27-year-old Francine Cornell on a secret mobile phone.
Leeds-born dancer Francine later went on to claim that boyband frontman Ronan had done all the chasing, bombarding her with messages during May and June 2009.
Shamed: Ronan Keating says he 'deserved what he got' after split from wife Yvonne
Despite making efforts to work through their issues, including a brief separation, Ronan and Yvonne, 38, were unable to move past his misdemeanors and the couple divorced in April this year after fourteen years of marriage.
And now Ronan has opened up about his affair, saying in an interview with Magic 105.4 that he is doing his best to remain philosophical about how his life has turned out.
He said: 'It’s been a tough couple of years – I deserve what I got.'
However, for the sake of their three children, Jack, 13, Missy, 11 and Ali, 6, Ronan and Yvonne have stayed on good terms following their split.
Ronan also spoke to Magic about his family, revealing that one of his offspring is following his footsteps into the showbusiness industry.
He said: 'My 11-year-old daughter, Missy made a film this year, which is coming out in February; a horror movie called Dark Touch.'
However, he did not touch upon his ex-wife's new relationship with cameraman John Conroy, who she is reported to have met on the set of the new flick.
He doesn't have to worry too much about bumping in to them, since he now spends a large chunk of the year in Australia where he is a judge on their version of the X Factor.
He said: 'We had our first show last night and we blew the ratings with 2.3million which is the biggest we have ever had. We are number one show down there so that’s amazing, very excited to go back down.'
'Mel’s (Scary Spice) on the panel – she’s good. She’s exactly what you want on a panel – she gives it! She’s great fun.'
Good terms: Ronan and Yvonne still maintain a good relationship for the sake of their three children. Here, they are seen with their 12-year-old son Jack in April
