They've not long announced their separation but it seems that Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis are already on good terms.
The actor has flown to his home in the South of France for a family holiday with Vanessa, 39, and their two children, Lily-Rose, 13 and nine-year-old Jack.
It seems the couple wanted to spend some quality time with their children and have out their differences aside for the sake of doing so.
Johnny Depp is said to have bought Vanessa Paradis an engraved pendant and flown to the South of France to attempt a reconciliation
Instead of spending his break from filming The Lone Ranger in New Mexico with rumoured new girlfriend Amber Heard, he rushed to see Vanessa and presented her with an antique gold pendant inscribed with a message about how he will always love her.
A friend told The Sun ‘They are having a family holiday to show the kids they are still a strong family even if those two are split or not.
‘But the fact he presented her with such a touching gift, it’s almost as if they could make another go of things.
While the couple had not been photographed together for some time before their split, Johnny is thought to want a reunion for the sake of their kids
‘Johnny wants to be with his family, he’s a very family oriented man, his kids mean everything to him.’
The couple need to spend time together with their kids away from the distractions of Hollywood, according to the friend and they decided on France where they have spent some of their happiest times.
Depp, 48, and Vanessa got together in 1998 when they met in the Costes Hotel in Paris while he was filming the Roman Polanski film The Ninth Gate.
He previously had a high-profile engagement to Winona Ryder and a long-term relationship with Kate Moss and she had just come out of a relationship with French-Slovenian actor Stanislas Merhar, having been reportedly engaged to singer Lenny Kravitz before that.
Johnny has told friends he wants to be with his family and has flown to be with Vanessa and the kids during his break from filming The Lone Ranger
A year after they got together, Depp and Paradis' first child, daughter Lily-Rose, was born, followed by their son Jack in 2002.
They never married but Johnny has stated that having children cemented roots for him and added that they gave him 'real foundation, a real strong place to stand in life, in work, in everything'.
He added: 'You can't plan the kind of deep love that results in children. Fatherhood was not a conscious decision. It was part of the wonderful ride I was on. It was destiny; kismet. All the math finally worked.'
Johnny's rumoured relationship with former co-star Amber Heard is thought to have cooled
