It was only recently that his girlfriend Michelle Keegan spoke out to insist they were still very much an item and in love.
But now Max George has sparked speculation their romance is on the rocks again after he was snapped kissing a mystery blonde while out partying.
The Wanted star can clearly be seen locking lips with the female as she drapes her arm around his neck and poses for a photograph.
Snapped: The Wanted's Max George has fuelled further speculation his relationship with Michelle Keegan is in trouble after he was pictured kissing a mystery blonde woman in a club in Newcastle
It could come as a shock to Coronation Street star Michelle, who spoke out to defend their relationship earlier this month.
A source told The Sun: 'It wasn’t a quick peck on the cheek - they were going at it for a good couple of minutes,' adding that it was a 'proper snog.'
The singer is sending out mixed messages to fans after it was revealed earlier this year they had broken off their engagement but remained as boyfriend and girlfriend.
Approached: The singer's rep has brushed off speculation, insisting he's approached by overzealous fans, like this one, all of the time
And this year, they've only been photographed together a handful of times due to their increasingly busy schedules.
George has spent the majority of 2012 in the U.S., where The Wanted's single Glad You Came reached No.3 on the Billboard charts, while Michelle has stayed based on Manchester as she films the soap.
Max revealed the couple had ended their engagement on Ryan Seacrest's radio show on KIIS FM last month.
As they were: Michelle and Max have barely been spotted together this year as their hectic schedules increase
And these latest pictures are sure to set tongues wagging they're no longer an item as they've so far not been snapped together since he's returned to England.
But a representative for George is still brushing off speculation and insisted that he was merely approached by an over enthusiastic fan when the kiss happened.
The spokesperson told The Sun: 'The Wanted have an incredibly passionate fan base.
At times the fans can be over-eager when they meet them, especially in a club or bar environment.
'In this case Max was approached and got slightly more than he bargained for.'
The MailOnline has contacted Max's representative for comment.
